Hopeful Horizons Nepal Conducts Community Mental Health Awareness Camp in Khokana
As part of our commitment to promoting mental health in the community, Hopeful Horizons Nepal, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mount Everest Lalitpur, organized a Mental Health Awareness Camp at Shree Rudrayanee Secondary School, Khokana, Lalitpur. The program was designed for members of the surrounding community. The awareness session focused on helping participants understand the importance of mental health and recognize the early signs of common mental health concerns. Discussions covered symptoms such as persistent stress, changes in mood, withdrawal from social activities, sleep disturbances, and difficulty coping with daily life. Emphasis was placed on the importance of early recognition, reducing stigma, and seeking support when needed.
To encourage active participation, the program included interactive role-play activities that reflected common real-life situations faced by individuals and families. These activities helped participants explore healthy ways of responding to emotional challenges and promoted open conversations about mental well-being.
The session also introduced practical Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques that community members can use to manage everyday stress. Participants learned simple tools such as recognizing unhelpful thought patterns, challenging negative thinking, practicing relaxation techniques, and adopting healthy coping strategies to improve emotional resilience.
At Hopeful Horizons Nepal, we believe that mental health education should be accessible to everyone. Community-based awareness programs like this play an important role in increasing understanding, reducing stigma, and empowering individuals with practical skills to care for their mental well-being.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Rotary Club of Mount Everest Lalitpur, the management of Shree Rudrayanee Secondary School for providing the venue, and all the community members who participated with enthusiasm. Together, we continue to work toward building a more informed, compassionate, and mentally healthy community.
